If the Lord Jesus doesn’t have the right to influence or determine what we do with our time, strength and resources, then our claim of Him being Lord over our lives can be questioned. The gospel has come to empower us to see everything in the true light, so we can always take stock of our true net worth, and place things in the right perspective
The Father likes to see that our greatest contentment, desire, pursuit and prayer in life, is to have eternal life, even the same life that committed Jesus to leave the throne for the earth. The only answer to a corrupt life is an incorruptible life and it deserves much more attention than we have given to other legitimate but corrupt-prone chapters of life.
One painful reality that is known to angels and to the Godhead, but unknown to most believers over generations, is the act of taking far too little out of trying times and seasons, or of not truly profiting with a trial of faith which is always meant to birth something enduring and eternal in us. The laws of sin and death would continue to feed fat on our fears of tomorrow, as long as we haven’t been equipped by the Faith of the Son to take our eyes off men, off things and off ourselves.
Those whose goal is to inherit eternal life or to sit on God’s throne shouldn’t do less. It should be our deepest daily longing, meditation and the main investment drive of our souls.
This present life was given to us as a gift to learn eternal life, and without this understanding or sense of purpose, the abuse of this gift is inevitable.
We all were weakened via Adam’s fall, from seeking God for God, and we all started by seeking God for the needs of this present life, but unknown to most believers, the world is designed to perpetually keep us doing so except we rise up against this by the strength of Christ’s Faith. Our hope either emanates from the gospel or from this world, and only the former doesn’t disappoint (Prov. 10:28, Rom. 5:5, 1 Pet. 2:6).
One of the chief goals that a believer should have today is that of becoming of a meek and lowly heart and among many things, a serious limitation to desiring this heart, is what you are doing for God – like we saw in Moses! Truly great men were all made by the process or obedience to Faith they submitted to, which in turn empowered them to truly OBEY, LOVE OR FEAR GOD.
By not intensely seeking to be meek and lowly, we are seeking something far too less and inferior, and many have realised this when they got to heaven. No believer can conquer the world without, without firstly discerning and then conquering the world within him; without conquering the alien life within him that quietly rules his soul.
Without taking your eyes off yourself, off men and off things present, your eyes will remain polarized and pluralized, and as such, can’t be placed on Christ, neither can it be single enough to someday sight God or discern Him. No man on earth knows who he really is, until he sees himself in the mirror of the gospel, until he sees the real image of the first owner of that gospel, Christ Jesus.
The leading of the Spirit is a leading against a life of ours which is of no use to us and to others, so we can acquire a life from above that would be of use to ourselves and to others; even an anointed life called Christ, that empowers whoever truly subscribe to it to gradually comprehend and inherit God.
When the peace kept in the gospel becomes the inheritance we seek, ownership of the power kept in the gospel of Christ would become inevitable. The most beautiful and tangible experience the soul of man can have on earth is an adventure of the life being offered by the Christian faith – when sought in its truest and purest form.
There can be no entrance into the New Testament if we don’t acknowledge we have darkness within us, such that can only be treated with the same instrument of light and commitment to the central message of the Bible like it was found with the early church (1Jn. 1:5, Jam. 1:17).
